Francisco de Armas y Julio Hernández, International Representatives,
Christian Liberation Movement
Dear friends,
In light of the meetings that the European Union will hold this month to
debate its relations with Cuba, the Christian Liberation Movement (MCL)
has sent the following appeal from Cuba, in which they ask that at these
meetings, the reality of the Cuban people be taken into account and not
just the perspective of the Cuban authorities.
There is an appeal on the part of the Cuban people that must be taken
into consideration and which does not represent the official position of
the government authorities. It asks for two things:
1. The recognition of the manifesto Unity for Freedom, which contains
the common principles and objectives of almost all of the
representatives of organizations from the peaceful democratic opposition
in Cuba.
2. The call for the liberation of all Cuban political prisoners who are
imprisoned for peacefully promoting, defending, and exercising
universally recognized human rights.
Please read the MCL statement in its totality below and help us in
circulating it to the international community and media.
Regards,
Francisco De Armas
Julio Hernández
